The new crawler version of Moog’s MBI 50 unit has been designed especially for operation on narrow pedestrian bridges. With the load distribution on two crawlers it is possible to stick to a minimum area load even though the overall width is 1.6m and the weight 3,000kg. This makes it possible to work on bridges that are rated low-weight only.

Xylem company Godwin has launched the Vac-Prime low-head pump to complement its Dri-Prime medium- to high-head range. Xylem’s Godwin Vac-Prime has been specifically designed for lower-head dewatering applications. It can manage heads of 11m to 25m, flows of 100m3/hour to 374m3/hour and solids with sizes from 45mm to 75mm. The pump is available in 4” and 6” (101mm and 152mm) versions.

Doosan Construction Equipment has shown a prototype of its 6tonne DX62R-3, a replacement for the DX60R. Due to be launched in the second half of the year, the machine delivers a 33% increase in hydraulic flow from a new load sensing system. Digging forces are said to be greatly improved, with bucket force now up to 4,400kg, and increase of 7%, while dipper arm force is up to 2.9tonnes. Sennebogen’s new 835 Electro material handler’s electric motor is said to save up to 50% of operating costs and energy compared to a diesel-powered solution. The first machine of the new E-series, the new 835 Electro, comes with a user-friendly component arrangement, increased cooling capacity, and numerous undercarriage variants. Italian firm Simex has produced a new TF 800/V rotary cutter for tunnel excavation applications. Two of the new rotary cutters were used to help construct the key Varzo Tunnel link in Italy, close to the border with Switzerland.
