The work on the construction of the next stretch of the A100 motorway in Berlin, Germany, is about to start. The project is expected to cost €473 million (US$616.72mn) and be completed by 2020.
Czech Transport Ministry has advanced four out of seven consortia for a €975 million D4 motorway contract between Příbram to Písek.
When signed, the 32km 25-year design-build-finance-operate contract will be the first of what the Czech government hopes will be more public-private partnerships.
A Vinci-led consortium is one of the chosen groups, consisting of Vinci Highways, Vinci Concessiones and Meridiam Investments of France. Another is a German-Austrian group of Strabag and Hochtief.

Slovakian highway company NDS says that construction of the 13km Turany-Hubova highway may not be started in 2012. The previous Transport Ministry plan was to call the tender for this stretch in summer 2012. However, the EC has not yet approved the construction of this highway, with questions surrounding the protected area in the Velka and Mala Fatra mountains. Road projects are being proposed for the Australian state of Queensland, with upgrades to the M1 route taking precedence. One proposed project will be for the widening of the M1 between Tugun and Varsity Lakes; work expected to cost US$164 million (A$206 million). Improvements to the section of the M1 between Logan Motorway and Eight Mile Plains should cost $12.74 million (A$16 million).
