Work has begun on the Long Van-Long My road in Vietnam's Binh Dinh province.
The US $47.71 million project (VND 995bn), due for completion in 2015, will create a 7km road connecting National Highways 1D and 1A in Quy Nhon town.
The Vietnamese Government is prioritising construction of the country’s North-South expressway project. Contractors are already being selected for the 11 sub-projects for the expressway, which is expected to come with a final pricetag of US$5.09 billion. The 2,100km route is being built in three separate phases and links 32 of Vietnams cities and provinces. The first 650km section will be complete by 2020. The other sections should be ready for traffic by 2025.
Philippines-based Metro Pacific Tollways is mulling offers to invest US$600 million in a project in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City.
Metro Pacific Tollways president Ramoncito Fernandez said that the investment would be made through the company’s CII Bridges and Roads Investment Joint Stock Co. (CII B&R).
“We are being offered new projects in Vietnam. We are now are evaluating a new project that will connect Ho Chi Minh to outskirts,” said Fernandez, without naming the project.
