US-Canada reach agreement on Peace Bridge's future

An agreement on the Peace Bridge, among the busiest crossings between the United States and Canada, has been reached. The deal calls for the immediate implementation of several projects connected to the Bridge which runs from Buffalo, New York State to Fort Erie, Ontario. These include a pre-inspection project to have cargo trucks bound to the US inspected in Fort Erie to lessen pollution and congestion on the US part of the crossing, and a research project focusing on the feasibility of expanding the US pl

An agreement on the Peace Bridge, among the busiest crossings between the United States and Canada, has been reached. The deal calls for the immediate implementation of several projects connected to the Bridge which runs from Buffalo, New York State to Fort Erie, Ontario. These include a pre-inspection project to have cargo trucks bound to the US inspected in Fort Erie to lessen pollution and congestion on the US part of the crossing, and a research project focusing on the feasibility of expanding the US plaza.

Up to US$50 million will be contributed by the Peace Bridge Authority for the projects, whereas around US$15 million will be provided by New York state.
