US $1.2bn Zhoukou-Zhengzhou, China highway construction begins

Work has begun on constructing a US $ 1.2 billion 144km highway between Zhengzhou and Zhoukou in China. The highway has a designed speed of 120km/hour and a width of 28m.
In the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China, plans have been drawn up to construct 24 expressways with a total investment of US$49.76 billion. The expressways will have a total length of 3,467km. Construction has started on the 177km Hechi-Baise expressway while the 92km Hechi-Du'an expressway has started operation. The Hechi-Du'an expressway has been designed for vehicle speeds of up to 100km/h.

China's Guangdong province will invest US$16.36 billion (CNY 99 billion) in transport infrastructure construction projects during 2014. Of the total, $11.46 billion (CNY 70 billion) will be set aside for construction of expressways. Another $2.27 billion (CNY 13.9 billion) will be used to build local roads, while $1.31 billion (CNY 8 billion) will go towards construction of national and provincial highways.
