Construction of the 392km highway running across Honduras is currently underway. The Canal Seco project will link the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of the country. Discussions regarding the bypass around the city of San Pedro Sula as well as other municipalities in Valle de Sula are being held. The bypass will prevent traffic congestion. The bypass is costing an estimated US$120 million and a consortium has looked at six possible routes. Funding for the route has still to be sourced.
Bertha, the tunnelling machine that is making its way under the US city of Seattle, has restarted work after nearly three weeks of scheduled maintenance downtime.
The machine has been sitting more than 51m underground while crews replaced of 14 large cutting tools, according to the Washington State Department of transportation. Each tool weighs just under 275kg.

Eurovia Infrastructure is the only contractor to secure a position on all three Lots of the US $ 144.02 million (£90mn) Hertfordshire Highways Structural Maintenance and Surface Treatments Framework contracts. The contracts began on 1 October 2012 and will run for four years. Lot 1 of the Hertfordshire County Council contract covers carriageway and footway surface treatments; Lot 2 covers carriageway resurfacing; and Lot 3 covers general civil engineering.
