Ring road upgrade for Bucharest

Plans are in hand in Romania for the upgrades to the Bucharest ring road. This work is due to be completed by 2014, according to the country’s Transport Ministry. Reconstruction and modernisation of the Chitila-Voluntari segment of the ring road was completed in 2010 and the modernisation of another two segments were completed in 2011. Plans are in hand in Romania for the upgrades to the Bucharest ring road. This work is due to be completed by 2014, according to the country’s Transport Ministry. Reconstruction and modernisation of the Chitila-Voluntari segment of the ring road was completed in 2010 and the modernisation of another two segments were completed in 2011. Also, the upgrading of two further segments will be finished by mid 2013. The investment in the five segments of the ring road is expected to reach €100.17 million, excluding VAT. Construction of the 17km segment that will link national road DN1 with the DN1 A will be completed on 30th September 2013 following an investment of €56.57 million. Also, the expansion and modernization of three segments at the south of Bucharest will be completed in December 2014 following an investment of €227.44 million. Also in Romania, a consortium comprising 1324 Astaldi and Max Boegl will build a 20.5km section of the Cernavoda-Medgidia highway. The deal is worth €117.56 million, excluding VAT and the work will take 12 months to complete. The project is being financed jointly by the 1054 European Investment Bank (EIB), the 2465 European Commission and the state budget.
