Polish road in tender trouble

A new tender has been offered for the construction of the Debica-Tarnow section of the A4 motorway in southern Poland. The Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) decided to call a new tender after deciding not to continue working with the consortium of Hydrobudowa, SIAC Construction, PBG, and Aprivia. A new tender has been offered for the construction of the Debica-Tarnow section of the A4 motorway in southern Poland. The 3519 Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) decided to call a new tender after deciding not to continue working with the consortium of 3206 Hydrobudowa, 6461 SIAC Construction, 5279 PBG, and 6462 Aprivia. GDDKiA is reported to have sought a fresh tender due to perceived delays in work on the Debica-Tarnow section. SIAC is said to be prepared to complete the investment, provided GDDKiA pays it €165.33 million (PLN 675mn). Earmarked to stretch 670km from the Polish-German border in Zgorzelec, through Wroclaw, Katowice, Kraków, Tarnów, and Rzeszów, to the Polish-Ukrainian border at Korczowa, the A4 is due for completion in 2013.

    Work is underway in Poland on the S1 dual carriageway that will connect the country with neighbouring Slovakia. The project is costing €1.17 billion and the new link should be ready for traffic in 2023. The tender process is underway for one of the sections at present with the bids being reviewed for the stretch linking Pryzbedza and Milowka.

Worth some €107 million this is one of three schemes being undertaken by the consortium to complete the main A1 highway.
