This year's event will feature three international joint stands from Germany, Italy and Spain

Despite the challenges due to Covid-19, organiser Messe München says the show will fill all 17 halls and the outdoor area at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC): in total 300,000 sqm of exhibition space.

It adds that many international companies have been looking for ways to exhibit again this year. Companies with subsidiaries or dealers in China are planning to have their Chinese colleagues on site in case employees cannot travel from areas including Europe, the US, Korea and Japan.

Major international exhibitors that will be showcasing at bauma CHINA include Bauer Maschinen, Bosch Rexroth Hydraulics & Automation, Caterpillar, Herrenknecht and Volvo Construction Equipment. There will also be three international joint stands – from Germany, Italy and Spain - which together account for 73 exhibitors and an area of over 1,800 square meters.

The focus of the exhibition will be smart and low-emission machines, electromobility and remote-control technology.

Due to Covid-19, the event will see a predominantly Chinese audience. Exhibition management expects around 130,000 attendees and visitors who pre-register online get their tickets free of charge. Tickets purchased on site cost 50RMB (€6.34).

Messe München says that, to ensure a safe and orderly event, the various control and security measures and venue-sanitation regulations will be effectively implemented, appropriate on-site medical services will be provided and all participants will be required to register online.

The Chinese government has taken numerous steps to strengthen economic development, and initial successes are becoming apparent. According to the government, China´s gross domestic product grew again by 3.2% in the second quarter after the coronavirus-related upheavals in the first quarter. A relaxed monetary policy and strong investment in infrastructure, consumption and healthcare are aimed at strengthening economic activity for the rest of the year.

As far as construction is concerned, according to the latest report by Off-Highway Research, stimulus spending in China is expected to drive a 14% increase in construction equipment sales in the country in 2020. This makes China the only major country to see growth in equipment sales this year.

Messe München says this means there is a strong imperative for the construction and mining machinery industry to re-launch business in China. It adds that there is also a desire among industry players to meet again in person, to exchange information and network.
