New Czech motorway in final stages

Construction began earlier this week of the last section of the US$630.30million D8 motorway through the Ceske Stredohori mountain range in the Czech Republic. The geological survey on the 12.7km road has been under way since 23 April, 2012. The D8 project is expected to be completed by early 2015.

    A consortium that includes Hungarian firms Euroaszfalt and Duna Aszfalt has won the tender to construct a 30km section of the M4 motorway between Ullo and Albertirsa. Nearly €169 million will be invested in the project, according to Hungarian media. Other bidders were Kozgep of Hungary and Itinera of Italy. The M4 project is to link the Hungarian capital Budapest with Romania’s western border city of Oradea. The route will travel in Hungary through Cegléd – Szolnok – Karcag – Püspökladány – Berettyóúj
  • Delays on Slovakian projects

    Work on several new highways being built in Slovakia as public-private partnerships (PPPs) will be delayed by six to 12 months. This means that the first sections of the Martin-Presov link will not open before 2011. The last section is expected to be completed in either late 2012 or early 2013.
