Myanmar project deal

Work on the Myanmar section of the Stilwell Road will be carried out by Chinese contractor Yunnan Construction Engineering Group (YCEG). The deal is worth some US$498 million and the project is for a 375km stretch of highway. YCEG will carry out the project in partnership with the Yuzana Group. The deal is of note as it will improve Myanmar's international links with its neighbours.

The Chinese contractor Zhongmei Engineering Group is carrying out the work to construct the Pokuase Interchange, as well as a number of connecting roads. The interchange will feature three levels, with the work costing US$84 million and due for completion in the second quarter of 2020. The interchange is located to the north west of Accra on the N6 highway, which leads to Ghana’s second city, Kumasi.

    Financing has been secured for key road reconstruction projects in Cambodia. Work is being carried out on six road projects in the country that measure a total of 600km, as well as a bridge, with this all costing some US$490 million. A loan of $94 million will help pay for the rebuilding of Cambodia’s National Road No 11 as well as a stretch of bypass.
