Mongolian government to invest US$407.87mn in roads in 2013

The Mongolian government has pledged to invest US$407.87 million (MNT 570bn) in road projects in 2013. In May, work will begin on a $3.5 billion 1,000km long high speed road between Altanbulag-Ulaanbaatar-Zamyn-Uud. Due for completion in October 2015, the road will be built on a concession basis. The executor company will own the road from 2015 to 2040, when it will come under state ownership. Six aimags (first-level administrative subdivision) Umnugobi, Dornogobi, Khuvsgul, Dornod, Dundgobi and Bayankhongor will be connected to Ulaanbaatar City in 2013. A total of 1,400km of roads will be built during 2013.

    The Indian government is to invest US$916.06 million (INR 50bn) in phases to convert 10,000kms of state roads in Andhra Pradesh to National Highways. According to the country’s Minister of State for Transport and Highways, Sarvey Sathyanarayana, the conversion works will be completed within the next three to five years.
