A major new toll link will boost Indonesia’s transport connections

The Philippines is setting major targets for road development in coming years. A planned budget of US$2.59 billion has been set for infrastructure in the city of Luzon for 2015. And the Department of Public Works and Highways plans to pave some 32,227km of the country's national roads by 2016, with only 83% so far having been paved. The island of Mauritius is looking to expand its road links with upgraded highway infrastructure Aseries of road improvements are underway on the scenic island of Mauritius, which lies in the Indian Ocean around 2,000km off the coast of South-east Africa. Called the Road Decongestion programme, this has been set up by the Mauritius Government in a bid to improve transport and safety in this small island nation.
Work is well underway on a new road and tunnel project, which will provide an improved connection between the Colombian city of Medellin and its airport. The new link will measure 24km long in all and the construction work is expected to cost over US$342 million, with completion due at the end of 2018. The project is known overall as the Oriente Tunnel, with the work being carried out as a concession by Concesion Tunel Aburrá-Oriente. The project comprises four sections in all.
