A major new toll link will boost Indonesia’s transport connections

Construction work on the 13.6km Gempol Pandaan toll road in East Java is commencing. The US$174.5 million project will take 18 months to complete and is expected to open for traffic in the third quarter of 2013.
German diesel engine maker DEUTZ is reporting strong half-year results, which it says will help the firm to invest in research and development into future powertrain solutions. The company says it has seen a marked increase in new orders and revenue as well as a significant improvement in free cash flow, while it has also benefited substantially from the sale of its former manufacturing site in Cologne. The Czech Republic is looking to cut construction costs for a 32km stretch of the D4 Pribram-Pisek highway between Milin and Mirotice. As a result the route will be constructed under public-private partnership (PPP) model. The total investment in the project is some €919.92 million. Work will commence on a key new road tunnel connecting in Chile in 2001. The Chacabuco II tunnel will provide another road link between Santiago and the Andes mountain range along the Los Libertadores highway. This will improve Chile's connection with neighbouring Argentina as the highway runs to the border. The 2km tunnel will run parallel to the existing Chacabuco I tunnel, and will carry two lanes of traffic running towards Santiago.
