A major new toll link will boost Indonesia’s transport connections

Construction work on the 13.6km Gempol Pandaan toll road in East Java is commencing. The US$174.5 million project will take 18 months to complete and is expected to open for traffic in the third quarter of 2013.
The firms Pöyry and Ramboll are to handle the design work for a project to upgrade a stretch of Highway No 6 in Finland. This package of works was awarded by the Finnish Transport Agency to Pöyry and Ramboll. The stretch of highway being upgraded lies between Taavetti and Lappeenranta. The work is for a 28km section of road including a portion of Highway No 6 and 12km of new roads. In Indonesia, state-controlled toll road operator Jasa Marga has secured a loan worth nearly US$124 million to finance its Medan-Kualanamu-Tebing Tinggi (MKTT) toll road project.
The loan is secured from a consortium of banks that include Bank BRI, Bank Mandiri and Bank BNI.
The total cost of the project is around $315 million. The tender process of the project is being conducted and the winning bidder will be revealed in May.

Driving work has commenced for Colombia’s Toro Tunnel project. The tunnel will measure 9.8km long and is located in Colombia’s Antioquia Department, with the completion expected in 2022. The project is costing US$650.5 million and the link is intended to provide a link between the Autopista al Mar 1 and Autopista al Mar 2 highways. When complete the tunnel will also cut the travel time between Medellin and Uraba to four hours.
