A major new toll link will boost Indonesia’s transport connections
Construction work on the 13.6km Gempol Pandaan toll road in East Java is commencing. The US$174.5 million project will take 18 months to complete and is expected to open for traffic in the third quarter of 2013.

Construction work on the 13.6km Gempol Pandaan toll road in East Java is commencing. The US$174.5 million project will take 18 months to complete and is expected to open for traffic in the third quarter of 2013.
Indonesia’s road network is growing at a healthy pace, though further expansion is required to meet demand. At the end of 2013, the total length of Indonesia’s national road network was 38,750km. This marks a significant increase from the total of 34,628km recorded in 2004. Meanwhile the total length of the country’s road network has increased to from 373,523km in 2004, to 508,968km in 2013. Lane Construction Corporation will carry out construction work worth US$134.6 million on a stretch of highway in Florida. This 21km section of the new Suncoast Parkway 2 will run to the north of Tampa, along Florida’s western coast. The route is intended to be a major transport corridor for the state and will feature four lanes. Work on the new North-South Highway in Vietnam is now underway, with preparatory work having commenced in 2016 and construction scheduled for completion in 2020. The project is being carried out under the PPP model, with initial funding being provided by a system of Government Bonds. The project is expected to cost US$2.43 billion to complete.
