Key road opportunities are emerging in Russia

Stroytransgaz has won US$124.7 million contract to reconstruct 4.4km of the A-104 Moscow - Dmitrov - Dubna highway. This development comes as the governor of the Orel region (Central FD) has increased the regional road fund . A further $75.33 million has been allocated for highways sector developments in the Magadan region (located in the far east of Russia) during the next two years.

    A budget of US$8.97 billion has been set as the limit on borrowing for India’s highways development programme for the 2017-2018 fiscal year. The financing agreement has been made by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), acting through the country’s Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. This substantial budget comes in spite of fewer projects being awarded as well as less financing having been secured during 2016. In the April to October 2016 the NHAI awarded contracts for 2,330km of highways.

    Moscow’s government is looking into the possibility of exempting developers from taxes on the funds they invest in building and repairing roads in the Russian capital. The current regulations require developers, which fund road construction, to make donations to the local road fund. The donations may not be included in construction costs and are subject to income tax of 20%.
