Cowi, along with BCC Engineering, has been selected to serve on a five-year continuing services contract to provide engineering services for in-service bridges in Florida.

Cowi, a global Danish engineering design consultancy, will serve as a subconsultant to BCC Engineering under the five-year district-wide contract. The deal with the Florida Department of Transportation builds on their previous successful collaboration on District 6 projects.

BCC, established in the southern Floridian city of Miami in 1994, employs 335 people and has delivered over US$6 billion in over 100 design and maintenance contracts.

In April 2022, Cowi announced it was acquiring Finley Engineering Group, a specialty engineering firm focused on complex bridge projects. At the time, Cowi said the acquisition was part of its focus on growing its presence in North America following recent opening of its offices in Houston, Texas, and in Toronto, Canada.

Finley is based in Tallahassee, Florida, and has a satellite office in Prague, Czech Republic. It employs 35 specialists within bridge design and construction engineering services, and has worked on more than 100 projects in the US, Canada, Middle East, Africa and South America.
