Construction works have begun on the Yichang section of China’s new Yichang-Yueyang expressway. Covering 51.8km, the Yichang expressway section will cost around US$613.35 million (CNY 3.82bn).
The Ethiopian Roads Authority has awarded a contract worth at least US$149.77 million (ETB 2.8bn) for a road upgrade to two China-based firms, with works due to be wrapped up in 36 months. Under the deal, the two companies are to upgrade a 133km road between the districts of Mille and Kombolcha from gravel to asphalt-concrete roads. Money for the works is being sourced from a loan extended by the World Bank.
XCMG has staged a foundation laying ceremony to mark the start of work on the Chinese construction machine manufacturing giant’s first European HQ. Based in Krefeld, Germany, XCMG Europe’s state-of-the-art €36million plus home is set to be completed and operational by July 2013. Meanwhile, the ambitious firm has completed a stockholding rights transfer which gives it a controlling 52% stake in renowned German concrete machinery firm Schwing.
A major road project has been awarded in China, which will improve connections to capital Beijing. The Beijing Xingyan Expressway Project was won by a consortium comprising China Railway Construction and its units China Railway 14th Bureau Group as well as China Railway 12th Bureau Group.
