Calls for Czech Republic R7 dual carriageway project funds

Mayors of north-west Bohemia have urged the Czech Prime Minister to provide funds for the completion of the R7 dual carriageway. The project was launched in 1964 but has made slow progress. There are several completed sections while preparation of others was cancelled in 2012. At present, a 15.8km section between Chomutov and Velemysleves is being built with completion scheduled for September 2013.     The European Union is providing nearly €202 million to finish the section of the D3 motorway between Strazov and Brodno around the city of Zilina in Slovakia. Zilnia is in north-west of Slovakia, around 200km from the capital Bratislava and close to the Czech and Polish borders. It is the fourth largest city of Slovakia with a population of around 85,000.
