Calls for Czech Republic R7 dual carriageway project funds

Mayors of north-west Bohemia have urged the Czech Prime Minister to provide funds for the completion of the R7 dual carriageway. The project was launched in 1964 but has made slow progress. There are several completed sections while preparation of others was cancelled in 2012. At present, a 15.8km section between Chomutov and Velemysleves is being built with completion scheduled for September 2013.     Brazil's national department of transport infrastructure, Dnit, has approved a proposal to suspend work on 29 road projects across 12 states. The approval comes after severe budget cuts this year and the number of affected works could increase to 61.     In Denmark’s northern Jutland, Leica Geosystems’ equipment is being used to help build a 40km motorway, one of the fastest-built such projects in the country’s history. The Danish Road Directorate is the client for the €5.4 million motorway between the two Danish cities of Herning, to the south with around 50,000 people, and Holstebro, a city of about 35,000 people, north of Herning. Preliminary ground investigations were made in 2013 and work started in 2015 with completion set for 2018.

  • Chinese firm to offer €2.5bn for construction of Serbian motorway

    Serbian Minister of Construction and Urbanism, Velimir Ilic, claims the China Roads and Bridges Company (CRBC) has verbally agreed to invest €2.5 billion (US $ 4.8bn) to enable the construction of the Corridor 11 motorway. Ilic said that an official CRBC offer to fund and build the key motorway route will be submitted from the beginning of September 2012.
