C-ing is believing for Cat telehandlers

Caterpillar says its new Telehandlers - TH336C, TH337C, TH406C and TH407C - feature the company’s C4.4 ACERTTM engines that meet Stage IIIB emissions standard and are available in a 92.6kW (124 hp) or a 106kW (142hp) rating. 178 Caterpillar says its new Telehandlers - TH336C, TH337C, TH406C and TH407C - feature the company’s C4.4 ACERTTM  engines that meet Stage IIIB emissions standard and are available in a 92.6kW (124 hp) or a 106kW (142hp) rating.

The C4.4 engine is said by Cat to be designed and manufactured to ensure smooth, quiet operation and longevity. Fuel consumption is also said to be optimised to match the tasks, lowering operating costs. A larger, redesigned cooling package with a hydraulic reversing demand fan is also fitted as standard to the new telehandlers.

The C Series machines, of which the TH407C will be on show at Intermat 2012, are said to be ideal for agriculture, general construction and industrial markets. With capacities ranging from 3300kg to 3700kg and lift heights up to 7.3metres, Cat says they deliver excellent strength and power to take loads up and out.

Z-bar linkage, which ensures strong breakout force and excellent coupler rotation, is another feature of the models. The chassis and boom are computer-designed and said to be subjected to rigorous stress analysis and fatigue testing to find the best combination of strength and durability.
The new Cat powershift transmission, with six forward and three reverse gears, are also on each of the new telehandler range. All gears are fully selectable and designed for telehandler applications. Each telehandler is said to have excellent towing capabilities and a top road speed of 40km/h.

Meanwhile cabs are described as comfortable and stylish, with a pneumatic suspension seat and improved jobsite visibility due to the enlarged window surface.

A range of Cat work tools is said to extend the versatility of the machines. A manual IT coupler comes standard, with the option of a hydraulic quick coupler to allow work tool changes without leaving the cab.

Service points are said by Cat to be readily accessible and major components are at ground level.  Service access points are located under the engine cover, and routine daily maintenance is said to be reduced to checking fluid levels and a walk-around inspection. Furthermore, the service menu is visible via the machine keypad and LCD display. Cat says the C Series Telehandlers are easier to maintain and benefit from the Cat dealer support network.
