A fleet of JCB excavators is playing a major role in a road construction project only metres from the factory where they were built. Derbyshire-based earthmoving specialist JC Balls is working for a Carillion-Tarmac joint venture on the A50 Growth Corridor Project A. The contract is part of the National Infrastructure Plan and consists of constructing a grade-separated junction on the A50 dual carriageway to the west of the town of Uttoxeter. Nine machine operators from China and Russia were given SDLG’s Top Driver award during the Beijing International Construction and Machinery Exhibition & Seminar (BICES). Six Chinese operators received the award, all of whom graduated with honours from the fifth Top Driver training programme, held at SDLG’s headquarters in Linyi, China.

Topcon Positioning Group and Bentley Systems are planning to run a collaborative Constructioneering Academy initiative. The first session is being held in Livermore, California on February 13th, 2018. The two firms have joined efforts to provide opportunities designed to allow construction industry professionals to learn best practices in constructioneering, a process of managing and integrating survey, engineering, and construction data, to streamline construction workflows and improve project delivery.
